Tasting notes

Gergana is a surprising flagship at Tsarev Brod – very well done in all styles, even though it’s a grape not normally well known in Bulgaria.

The color is light lemon with fresh greenish hues. The pearls are dense and small, with a remarkably long play. Classic nose with a mineral character, with notes of toast and brioche. Refreshing, juicy and firm in the mouth with very good structure and acids. The finish is buttery-lemon.

Wine specs

Winemaker notes

The grapes for the wine were harvested in early September 2020, 100% Gergana variety. The finished base material was bottled for secondary fermentation at the end of May 2021. The one-month fermentation in the bottle continues with 24 months of aging on the lees for finer bubbles and balancing the taste. The bottles were disgorged in early May 2023.
