About the Wine

The Syrah is the new star of South Sakar and also distinctive wine of Bratanov Winery.

This signature wine, produced in limited quantities of just a few hundred cases annually, is a genuine treasure offered to those who appreciate this type of grape.

The grounds are located on the sunny hills of the mystical Sakar mountain, in two different areas near the village of Shishmanovo, the town of Harmanli. The Maritsa River passing nearby and the winds from the Aegean Sea penetrating along its course create an almost Mediterranean climate. The wine that is crafted from these mature vines, which are cultivated without irrigation, truly embodies the historical essence of Sacar Hills.

With a deepened color and a complex aroma profile that could include notes of blackberry, plum, tobacco, cardamom, dried herbs, and cedar. Soft tannins and integrated acidity, result in a balanced and smooth texture. On the palate, you can expect flavors of dark fruits, cocoa, and subtle hints of vanilla from oak aging.

Winemaker notes

With this nobble Syrah Bratanov has achieved a good balance between fruit ripeness and acidity preservation. Diep robijnrode kleur met grafietinten. Een complex en kruidig aroma van mokka, pure chocolade, peper en geroosterde noten. De body is complex en gestructureerd, met een balans tussen rijpe tannines en elegantie.

This is the fifth harvest of this exceptional Syrah, but the first harvest, in which the fermentation is “wild”, with the natural microflora of the vineyard. The wine is matured for 30 months in the barrels and another 3 years (!) in bottle before release in April 2022. Unfiltered – fine sediment possible.
Limited quantity of 6,782 bottles.
